Melanie Iglesias is a bilingual editor and translator with native proficiency in English and Spanish.
Previously, as a senior editor acquiring romance, magical realism, upmarket plus, and book club fiction at Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, LLC, Melanie worked with debut, celebrity, and bestselling authors writing in English and Spanish across fiction and nonfiction genres. These books have appeared on the New York Times, USA Today, and the Indie national and regional bestseller lists. They have been nominated and shortlisted or longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, the LAMBDA Literary Awards and Prizes, and the International Latino Book Awards. And have been selected for Book of the Month Club, Target Book Club, Barnes & Noble’s monthly genre pick, Apple Books’ Staff Pick, Amazon’s Best of the Month (Romance), and the Goodreads Choice Awards, among other accolades.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Melanie moved to New York City in 2014 to pursue a career in book publishing. She is a Geek Rican at heart. When not working or reading, Melanie loves playing Dungeons & Dragons, board games, and Nintendo games; practicing archery; rewatching her favorite comfort movies; and swooning over film & TV costuming details. She holds a bachelor of arts in creative writing (interdisciplinary studies) from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, and a master of science in publishing: digital and print media from NYU School of Professional Studies.
